Have you ever wanted to open a link from a WordPress navigation menu in a new tab or window only to realize there is no option for it? This kind of behavior is normally achieved by adding a simple
target="_blank" to your anchor tag but how do we do this in WordPress? Some people would say to use a filter to accomplish it but should we have to use a filter for something so simple?

Hidden in the upper right corner of your WordPress menu administration screen is this wonderful drop down button that houses all sorts of delightful options you never knew existed, and look what the first option is:
If we put a check next to the Link Target option we will now have the ability to open specific menu items as new windows or tabs.
